The Laser Threat Deterrent System is a powerful, non-lethal, low-maintenance laser-based deterrent based on a patented multi-color laser source. Once the laser is activated, subjects essentially “lose” their view of the vessel, replaced instead with an intense laser light (see photos). In addition, the laser has been known to induce nausea and other temporarily debilitating physiological effects in the subject. The beam color has been adjusted for maximum performance under a broad range of weather conditions, day or night. The proprietary multi-color design cannot be readily defeated with filters. The laser’s high power profile provides a 2 nautical mile effective deterrence range.

Fiber optic laser beam delivery allows remote positioning of the laser source inside the vessel. As a part of APT, fiber optic endpoints are incorporated with camera and/or LRAD mounts, providing automatic targeting from the Command and Control Station in conjunction with camera or LRAD targeting, respectively, and eliminating the need for additional dedicated pan-tilt systems.
